What is Windows on Snapdragon?

Windows on Snapdragon is a version of Windows built for devices with Snapdragon X Series processors.These processors power lightweight laptops and tablets, such as the Microsoft Surface Pro X, known for long battery life and always-connected design.

Why does Windows on Snapdragon support matter?

Windows PCs powered by Snapdragon are becoming more common in schools, government, and enterprises because of their long battery life, lightweight design, and always-connected experience. By supporting Windows on Snapdragon, Vasion helps IT teams manage all devices consistently while staying aligned with Microsoft’s shift toward Snapdragon-powered computing.

When will Windows on Snapdragon support be available in PrinterLogic?

PrinterLogic has supported Windows on Snapdragon devices since fall 2025, where the client could be installed on PCs powered by Snapdragon processors using a specific driver. Our Spring 2026 launch takes this further with full Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) support, so PCs powered by Snapdragon no longer require a dedicated print driver. This release also adds PrinterLogic’s advanced features such as Off-Network Printing, Offline Secure Release, and Off-Network Cloud Print support for Windows on Snapdragon devices.

What is driverless printing, and how does it relate to Windows on Snapdragon?

Driverless printing uses IPP to communicate directly between devices and printers without requiring manufacturer-specific drivers. For Windows on Snapdragon devices, traditional printing required printer manufacturers to build a dedicated Windows on Snapdragon driver. Since Microsoft is transitioning the entire Windows ecosystem to IPP-based printing via their Windows Ready Print initiative, manufacturers are no longer investing in drivers. Vasion's Spring 2026 launch solves this by supporting Windows Protected Print (WPP) and IPP/MPP compatibility, well ahead of Microsoft's July 2027 deadline.

What devices and printers are supported?

Supported Devices: PCs powered by Snapdragon processors and tablets manufactured by Microsoft, Lenovo, HP, Dell, ASUS, and others.
Supported Printers: Windows on Snapdragon printing uses IPP (driverless) communication or any V3 ARM driver. Vasion supports both Mopria-certified and non-Mopria devices, so you don't need to replace your existing printer fleet.

Do I need a different PrinterLogic Client specifically for PCs powered by Snapdragon processors?

No. You’ll need to install the latest version of the PrinterLogic Windows client, but it’s the same client used for all Windows devices.

How do I enable Windows on Snapdragon printing in my environment?

IPP is enabled by default on your PrinterLogic Client and available for all printers. To configure a printer as an IPP printer rather than a driver-based printer, open the printer's Drivers tab in the Admin Console and assign the "Use Internet Printing Protocol (IPP)" option under the Windows on ARM 64-bit section. When the printer is installed, it will be added as an IPP queue.

Which printers are supported?

IPP driverless printing works with Mopria-certified and non-Mopria printers, and V3 ARM drivers are also supported for mixed environments. There's no need to replace your existing printer fleet. For the full list see the Supported Printers page.

Does this replace our existing print or Microsoft investments?

No. The Vasion platform integrates directly into the Microsoft and print infrastructure you already have, so there's no rip-and-replace.
