Web Print is a feature that allows external users, like guests, to upload and print documents directly from a web browser without the need for installing any additional software/drivers or involvement from IT. It’s a simple, secure solution that ensures guests, contractors, students, or even remote employees can print conveniently without compromising network security.

Web Print supports Secure Release Printing for guests by utilizing Vasion’s Off-Network Cloud Printing to safeguard sensitive documents. IT administrators can force all print jobs to be held for Secure Release and guests can only release print jobs through the Control Panel Application (CPA) by entering a release code sent via email.

Off-Network Printing is a key solution for hybrid organizations with remote employees, temporary contractors, and affiliate partners who need open access to printers to do their jobs. Through a Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), you can allow employees open access to printing while maintaining high levels of network security by requiring all employees to authenticate their identities before printing every time, no matter what.

Where Off-Network Cloud Printing differs is how print job data travels to the printer. Off-Network Cloud Printing eliminates the need for local infrastructure, like the Internal Routing Service, sitting between the cloud and the networked printer. Instead, data is encrypted, and temporarily at rest in the cloud until the ONCP App, running on the printer, downloads the print job and prints it.

Delegated Release is a feature that allows end users to securely hand off print jobs to trusted colleagues without shared login credentials or risky workarounds. When sending a print job, the original user (initiator) can choose to hold it for themselves or assign it to one or more approved delegates. Those delegates can then release the job directly from the Control Panel Application, Mobile App, or Release Portal.

Every action is logged, giving IT full visibility into who initiated the job, who released it, and when. This not only improves accountability but also enforces secure document handling without slowing users down or introducing unnecessary complexity.

We offer other methods of releasing print jobs that don’t involve physical badging, a badge reader, or require logging in. You can release print jobs from the Mobile App, on the Control Panel Application, or scan a QR code to identify the printer for a touch-free experience.
